The Bahamas is the first landing point for the ARCOS -1, which is the main cross-Caribbean fiber optic cable.

The ARCOS -1 ("Americas Region Caribbean Ring System")  is an 8,400-kilometer submarine fiber optic cable that spans 24 countries between Miami, with the Bahamas being the closest landing point and with no nodes in between and with additional landing points.
